Tidewater owns and operates the 12,000 barrel-per-day Prince George Refinery where it co-processes canola oil and used cooking oils alongside conventional BC crude to make lower-carbon gasoline and diesel.
In 2023, Tidewater started up Canada's first hydrogen-derived renewable diesel production facility next door to the refinery — and today sells over 12 million litres a month of renewable diesel into the local BC market through distribution partners including Star West Petroleum.

Tidewater renewable diesel is made from Canadian-sourced waste oils and canola oil, giving it a BC lifecycle carbon intensity of 15 gCO₂e/MJ — compared to conventional diesel at 94.38 gCO₂e/MJ. That works out to more than an 80% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions.
We sell the renewable diesel neat or blended with lower-carbon conventional diesel to match your operation. Like the rest of Tidewater's fuels, the renewable diesel meets all seasonal specifications for the Prince George region — it drops straight into existing tanks and engines with no equipment changes.
