The Star West Commitment to Indigenous Relations

Our Policy

Partnerships Rooted In Respect

Star West Petroleum is committed to building honest, long-term relationships with the First Nations whose ancestral lands we operate on. Our policy guides how we partner, how we employ, and how we give back to the communities that make our work possible.

Key Elements Of Our Policy

  • Revenue share agreements with First Nation partners across BC
  • Preferred partnerships with Nation Member-Owned businesses
  • Employment opportunities for First Nation community members
  • Sponsorship of community events, youth programs, and cultural initiatives

How We Partner & Invest

Revenue share is the baseline — the real work is in the day-to-day partnership, employment, and community presence.

  • Corporate Responsibilities Regarding Indigenous Economic Development

Star West Petroleum has Revenue Share Agreements with numerous First Nations in Central BC and continues to develop rapport and trust with others. Along with these agreements, Star West Petroleum currently participates in several Band community building initiatives including gift donations to children’s holiday events, sponsorship of hockey and golf tournaments, and financial support to help rebuild a playground.

  • Partnering with Nation Member-Owned Small Businesses

Supporting Indigenous partners and businesses is a key part of our commitment. As part of any partnership agreement, Star West Petroleum will utilize and partner with regional Nation Member-Owned Business where possible. Consideration will also be given as a sub-trade to a prime contractor for specific work such as tank installations, piping, and storage solutions.

  • Employing First Nation and Community Members

Supporting BC’s Indigenous communities goes beyond revenue sharing agreements. It’s our desire to employ First Nation support staff wherever possible. We are also interested in supporting employment initiatives that encourage First Nation interest and awareness in various oil and gas industry professions within BC. Star West would continue our history of participating in Job Fairs and Work Experience Programs for youth, and invite youngsters to ride-alongs and other opportunities.

Partnership Framework

Let's Build This Together

Our goal is to foster collaboration with care — guided by your community's direction and values. Whether you're looking for an industry partner on major projects or simply want a relationship rooted in respect and shared opportunity, we're here to listen.
