Tidewater is a renewable fuels producer and energy transition leader.
We provide low-carbon fuel solutions at scale using commercially proven, leading-edge technology.
We own and operate the 12,000 barrel per day Prince George Refinery where we co-process canola oil and used cooking oils alongside conventional B.C. crude oil to make lower carbon gasoline and diesel.
In 2023 we started up Canada’s first hydrogen derived renewable diesel production facility next door to the Prince George refinery. The production process uses feedstock pre-treatment technology from Crown Iron Works and two stage HydroFlexTM and Hydrogen BridgeTM Technology from Haldor Topsoe. Today we proudly sell over 12 million litres a month of renewable diesel into the local BC market.
Our renewable diesel is made from made from Canadian sourced waste oils and canola oil, which gives it an average BC life-cycle carbon intensity rating of 15 gCO2e/MJ compared with conventional diesel, which has a BC carbon intensity of 94.38 gCO2e/MJ. That translates to a more than 80% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions!
We sell the renewable diesel both neat and blended into our lower carbon conventional diesel to meet our customers’ preferences. Like the rest of Tidewater’s fuels, our renewable diesel meets all seasonal specifications for the Prince George region.
